A beer subscription can be a convenient way to try unfamiliar breweries. The useful comparison is not simply the headline price: how often are you charged, what arrives, who chooses it, and when can you stop or change the next box? We checked the providers' own product pages and terms on 26 September 2026. This is a comparison of published terms, not a hands-on test of the beers, delivery or customer service. Prices and plans can change, so check the linked checkout and terms before paying.
Three different approaches
| Service | What the provider says is in the box | Billing and control | Consider if… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beer52 | Eight beers with a magazine and snacks in the offer shown when checked | Charged every 28 days under its standard beer-club terms: normally 13 boxes in a year, not 12. Its terms say cancellation must happen before the next billing date and give a support phone number. | You want a discovery box with reading material and are comfortable tracking a 28-day renewal. |
| Brewser | Boxes chosen from independent UK breweries; its Discovery Mixed example lists eight beers from a different brewery each month | The site promotes online skips and cancellation. Its terms say the first order is locked and cancellation through the account is available once the first box has been delivered. Later changes must happen before the monthly lock date. | You want to explore independent breweries and are happy to read the lock-date rules first. |
| Good Pair Days Beer Club | Eight beers, mostly lighter styles, with a mini magazine and rewards points | Says billing is monthly on your signup date; its FAQ says you can skip or cancel in account settings before the next charge. Shipping is described as included in the monthly fee. | You prefer a predictable monthly date and a mix that leans toward lager and pale ale. |
These are use cases inferred from the providers' published features, not quality rankings. None of the three boxes has been bought or tasted for this guide.
The renewal date matters more than “monthly”
A plan charged every 28 days renews roughly 13 times over 364 days. A plan charged on a calendar date renews 12 times in a year. That difference can matter more than a small introductory discount. Beer52 states the 28-day cycle in its subscription terms; Good Pair Days describes monthly billing on the signup date in the Beer Club FAQ. For any offer, put the next payment date in your calendar as soon as you order.
To compare value, divide the total regular charge, including delivery and any regional surcharge, by the number of beers. Then check can or bottle sizes: eight 330ml cans and eight 440ml cans are not the same volume. A gift magazine or rewards points may be useful to you, but they do not increase the amount of beer. Use the regular renewal price rather than a one-off first-box promotion.
Read the cancellation terms before the offer
The headline “cancel anytime” does not always mean you can reverse a box already being prepared. Brewser's terms distinguish ending a subscription from changing a locked monthly order; they also say the first order is locked immediately. Beer52's terms specify a deadline before the next payment and provide a telephone cancellation route. Good Pair Days says in its FAQ that cancelling in settings before the next charge avoids further charges. Save the order confirmation and note the provider's cutoff time.
Choose by the beers you actually want
If discovering independent UK breweries is the goal, Brewser's brewery-led approach is a closer match than a general mixed box. If you mainly want lighter styles, Good Pair Days says most of its selection is lager and pale ale, with occasional dark or sour beers. Beer52 emphasises rotating discovery themes plus its magazine and snacks. These descriptions come from the providers; actual lineups can vary by month and substitutions may occur. Check a current box example and any stated style preferences before ordering.
A one-off mixed case can be a better first purchase if you are unsure how quickly you will drink eight beers or do not want recurring payments. A prepaid gift plan can also be simpler than giving someone a rolling subscription; confirm whether it ends automatically or renews.
Before you pay
- Check the regular price, number and size of beers, delivery charge and any surcharge for your postcode.
- Check the first dispatch date, next payment date, lock date and exact cancellation method.
- Confirm whether you can skip a month or change styles before the next box.
- For a gift, check whether the recipient needs to manage an account or age verification at delivery.
- Keep the confirmation email and revisit the provider's terms before each renewal if anything changes.
How this guide was made: We compared the providers' published product pages, FAQs and terms on 26 September 2026. We have not purchased these subscriptions, tested delivery or evaluated the beers.
